Norman "Norrie" Adams

28 April 1952 - 27 October 2022

Norrie grew up in Midmill with his sister, Pamela, Mum, Betsy and Dad, Norman. He attended St Vincents , then St Michaels School where he was a prefect and also an alter boy. Norrie met Margaret while they both still at school and their love grew over the years, they were then Married on 16th March 1974. Norrie served his time as a motor mechanic in the SMT garage in Dundee as he had a keen interest in cars. He then went to work in Timex, Milton later leaving to work in Holo-Krome. During this period of time they raised three wonderful daughters, Gillian, Wendy and Laura. Norrie and a friend set up Vent Clean and Services together and it was fully established in 1988 and after retiring in 2015 the business is still going strong which in itself is a tribute to him. Norrie was a very generous man and a devoted grandad to Danni. Lewis, Aiden, Nathan & Matthew. Family was a huge part of his life and after retiring he took all the family to New York where they made lifelong memories together. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them, going away on family holidays, weekends away, familly BBQ's and parties. He was always the life and soul of the party and his moto was 'never go to bed on the same day that you get up'. Laterally Norrie and Margaret enjoyed going away in their motorhome to Aberfeldy, Oban and Pitlochry which he loved. Norrie enjoyed many hobbies over the years. One of which was weight lifting with his friends at the YMCA and this led to them forming a tug of war team and they took part in European Competitions representing Scotland. Norrie was also a member of the local Monifieth darts team and went onto become captain, where they won a number of trophies. He was also an avid supporter of Dundee Utd, which started when he was a young boy when his dad used to take him to the matches , this continued through his life and he shared this passion with his sister, Pamela and grandsons, Nathan and Matthew. Often prematch meeting his friends in the Fairmuir Club. Norrie was a very social, outgoing man and enjoyed nothing more than going to his local 'The Vault' and relaxing with a pint and putting the world to rights with his friends and often his daughter, Laura. Norrie took seriously ill in May 2021 which had a devastating effect on his health and lifestyle. He was a proud man however and embraced the new challenges with dignity and humour. He had to attend Ninewells three times a week, which meant that Norrie saw the weekend as his days off, still making the most out of every opportunity, and going away with his family for short breaks where he could. His family were amazed at the resilience and courage that Norrie continued to show right up until the end, when he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on 27th October 2022.
